Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My total carbon footprint was 17,121kgs, above average for my area. Most of my carbon footprint came from transportation. I expected my results to be below average, this surprised me because I didn't expect the airplane flights to affect it as much as it did. I learned that I need to cut down on transportation and home because those two were my highest and the other two were low compared to the average. To decrease my highest ones I can not take plane rides as much, considering I took four because they were connecting flights, I can also turn off the lights and take shorter showers.
