Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Banning plastic bags?

lauche

Banning plastic bags is a good idea because it would help the environment. If we couldn't ban plastic bags, then we should charge more for them.

I agree Lauren if we ban plastic bags it will benefit the earth. The great thing about it is there is not a natural downside to getting rid of plastic. Why should we use something for a few minutes that will last for eternity?

I also agree with Lauren because plastic bags take thousand of years to decompose and if every body using plastic bags then the green house gases would be overwhelming.

I agree with you so much. Lauren. They are bad and hurting our envirmont. I feel that instead of giving someone a option of paper or plastic at the grocey store should stop. People should not have the choice it should just be paper. Bye Laurcen

I completely agree!

Plastic bags kill ocean life and do not fully decompose. They only get smaller and smaller. The smaller bits then intoxicate water and food. The plastic from fish also goes into our system when we eat the fish. We need to ban plastic bags!

I agree with Brandon because plastic bags and other plastics take thousands of years to decompose. Adding onto the thought, even if it does decompose there will still be micro plastics. These are the type of plastics that can be very deadly towards animals and sometimes humans. Animals like fish eat those micro plastics mistaking them for other foods and when we eat the fish those plastics can get into us. Therefore, I agree with Brandon“s thought and Lauren“s thought of banning plastic bags.
