Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Valuable Trash
My idea is one I hope will come into action sometime in the near future. I hope that a program can be put into place where the homeless can pick up trash along the streets or anywhere they find it and take it into a center to receive food, blankets, some form of shelter, money, or necessaries like water bottles or toothbrushes and toothpaste. This way, we can lessen the percent of our population that is homeless and the amount of trash on our streets and such. The trash that is then collected then be sorted by homeless in exchange for pay. The recyclables will go off to be recycled and the organics can go to a community compost to help make soil for a garden where the homeless can go to grow their own food. This garden idea can help teach the homeless the lesson of responsibility and get them a part time job or just the opportunity to get free food. The trash will then be sorted as well and anything that can be used, like plastic to create shelters in a designated area for the homeless.
wouldnt this be a new form of wellfare though? it would make it so that people wouldnt have to work at all just walk around and get money and such
I think that's a great idea, but if the place is going to give them food or shelter, how are they going to get their money back, it's not by receiving trash. The idea is great but it isn't productive for the people who give food unless the government helps...
while this might be effective in some areas it would make less jobs for our growing economy and we are in debt so we need everything we can get and if we are giving people money for picking up trash then it wouldnt make sense
I agree with your idea Kayla. That is a really good idea. But think about how much food would have to be given. Some people are just too lazy and do not want to work. What if our future is just collecting trash and getting free shelter, food, etc.
i agree with you because if the homeless start picking up and trade it for food or money or blankets then the world would be a much cleaner place, but what f=if there is a place where there is so much trash everywhere, and no homeless people to pick up the trash for money, food, shelter, or blankets
