Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Coleman Richard Carbon Footprint, (Mooresville North Carolina, USA)
My name is Coleman Richard and I am seventeen years old, and from Mooresville North Carolina which is a medium sized town in the southeastern region of the Untied States. My carbon footprint is as follows:
Transportation: 12,785 kgs
Home: 5,229 kgs
Food: 2,88s kgs
Purchases: 405 kgs
Total:22,301 kgs
The reason that my overall footprint as well as my transpiration is so much higher than the average person in my area is that I drive a rather large truck that is not very fuel efficient. Unfortunately, I do not have access to a vehicle that is more fuel efficient and my family does not have the funds to purchase another one. My home is lower than the average here because we use a lot of fans in my household in addition to the Air Conditioning to keep us cool and in the winter we use blankets and extra clothes rather than turning on the heat and raising the bill. My food total is slightly higher because I am a very large person at nearly six and a half feet and I eat a lot because of that and I need a lot of protein because I play sports and need to keep strong. My purchase s are significantly lower because I rarely buy things for myself and the only time I ever get new things is when other people give them to me. My plan to reduce my footprint is to cut back on driving and to carpool more with others so that I do not have to run my very wasteful (but awesome) truck.
Hello Coleman. Our scores are almost identical in every way. I can't figure out why though. Could it be that we go to the same school? Live in the same region? My home score is about 1500 kg lower than yours. In order to lower your score and save on heating/cooling costs I recommend a programmable thermometer like we have in our family.
