Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Too Many Jeans?
According to wateruseitwisely.com, the average teen in the United States owns eleven pairs of jeans. This statistic may not seem very important, but when you factor in that it costs the earth 1,800 gallons of water just to make ONE pair of jeans, your perspective might change a bit. This means that the average teen in the United States uses 19,800 gallons of water- just on making the jeans! This doesn't even factor in the amount of times the jeans are washed! I believe that we can cut down the amount of water we waste by buying less pairs of jeans, washing them less, and putting to use the pairs we already own! And if you don't ever wear a pair of jeans, don't let the water you've used sit in the closet; re-purpose it. Give it away to a friend, relative or charity, use it in a cool DIY project, or resell it!
