Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Walk Back Home
From the CO2 footprint calculator, I get to know that traveling with cars produces a lot CO2. A car burn gallon of gas creates 20 pounds of carbon dioxide and the average American consumes approximately 500 gallons of gas per year which means an American will create 10000 pounds of carbon dioxide per year but one mature tree only can absorb carbon dioxide at a rate of 48 pounds per year. Because of the reasons above, I have an idea that if we try to walk back to home from school every day if it’s possible, how much CO2 can we reduce? Maybe 1/8 of it.
walking back from school is a great idea but for most people school is too far away from home. For example, my route back home requires me to take the freeway because it will take to long to get home. Also for a lot of people, their car rides are 20 to 40 minutes long. I do agree with your idea but people commute from all different places to come to school.
I think walking back from school is very smart. If you drive home everyday from school over time it will add up to be a lot of co2. Also if you live far away it will add up to be alot. I live 7.2 miles so walking home is very hard. Thats why if you live far away I suggest you carpool with other people so that you can burn less gas.
I agree with the both of you that cutting back on the amount of time spent in the car is a great way to decrease the amount of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere in our day to day life. But, as Ethan said many people live far away which is why lots of people have come up with a solution which is carpooling. Carpooling is when multiple people ride in a car together so that less cars are used and if you can find someone who goes to your school who lives near you then carpooling can be a great alternative to driving in two separate cars.
