Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint
My Carbon Footprint really didn't suprise me but I am still disappointed that it is both above the world's average and the average of my country (Croatia). I think it's so high (around 6000) because I drive to school everyday and because of my family. I'll definitely try my best to lower my Carbon Footprint and have a serious talk with my family on how they can help and change the things they do in the house.
Dear Mizze, what kinds of changes are you going to suggest to your family?
Well to be quite honest i'm not sure yet. I definitely will warn them about turning off the lights and the tv when not in the room or the amount of water they use on things they don't really need to. What I am most concerned about though is recycling because I don't think anyone in my family does it and I definitely do want to, especially plastic.
To reduce the transportation section (driving to school everyday) of your carbon foot print, is there anyone in your area who you could carpool with? or are there any public options for getting to your school? (or close to your school).
Carbon emission is one of the main problems in our society today, although I am one of the people who emits a lot of carbon I want to change that and also help others change. The US is 2nd in the world behind China in CO2 emissions with approximately 5.27 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide emission in 2012. This is not good because this is putting harmful chemicals into our atmosphere which is deteriorating the health of our planet. We can help with the amount of carbon we emit by using less power plants, generators, carpool more often, and reduce the amount of coal we use for energy. I am trying to help by recycling bottles and cans and being energy sufficient.
Isi S public transport isn't really an option for me because it wouldn't be as practical and it would be more expensive than what I already am doing. I actually do carpool to school every day so I don't think that I can do much about the transportation section of my carboon footprint. I was more wondering about what I can do about the food section because I honestly can't figure out why it's around 2200 kgs.
I most certainly agree that carbon emission is a huge problem! But for some reason a lot of people seem to ignore it and act as if we are not ruining our planet. If we keep on doing this and ignoring the fact that we need to make a change we will reach a point when it will be too late to fix anything. I think that people need to stop ignoring this problem that is right under our noses and stop being lazy and ignorant. We need to make a change and yes, giving up some of the "luxuries" that we got used to in our everyday lives might be hard but it would definitely be worth it.
