Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Shipping

You might find something.. say on amazon, etsy, etc. You buy it, but do you ever consider the more than just the cost of the shipping?

say your amazon purse was manufactured in China, the journey from there to say, Texas, is lengthy, there is a long trip via either plane or boat, then there is the trip on the road.

The cost of shipping goes beyond just the annoying cost.

By 2050 Shipping maybe come 17% of the global CO2 emissions, lets work to buy locally so this wont happen.

I totally agree! I wonder if theres away to tell where the item is being shipped from so you can decide weather or not you’d like to buy a product that is being shipped across the sea. Or if theres a way to regulate the amount of times or how someone orders something from a certain area.
