Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Electric cars, good or not?

SamGUSABOD3MCW

We all know that electric cars are better for the environment, but why?
Its because they do not emit greenhouse gasses like other cars. However, we also know that these electric cars need power and we need to generate that power. Unfortunately, a lot of the mainstream ways of generating power is through places like a power plant or other non-environmentally friendly generators. So even though the car, itself does not emit any greenhouse gasses the way in which the electricity was generated emitted greenhouse gasses, and isn't that just as bad? I think that electric cars are a great idea we just need to make sure that the method used for generating the electricity for the car is environmentally friendly because otherwise whats the point of an electric car.

I agree with you Sam, electric cars are good but have some flaws. I agree that we should find more ways to get electricity to power electric cars. I think that people should have solar panels installed to power the cars because then the greenhouse gas level will dramatically decrease and helping our environment.
