Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Turn off the faucet!
Many people can admit to leave the faucet running whale doing things like brushing your teeth, washing dishes, and cooking. But many people don’t realize how much this can effect their carbon footprint and their bank account. By doing an action as simple as flicking down that faucet lever while you brush your teeth you can save 200 gallons of water per month. Another strategy for conserving water is instead of washing dishes under a running faucet, fill up your sink with soapy water and wash them all at once. And when you are boiling food use just enough water to cover the food, this is even proven to make the food taste better. By implicating at least one of these strategies you can save around $300.

I agree, most people don’t think about doing small things like this that can help save the planet and the resources that we use every day.
I think this is another big problem. We should turn off the faucet and lights when we are not using them to save energy, and so we don’t emit as much CO2. It does seem like a small thing, as Owen said, but it will make a difference for carbon footprints around the world.
