Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Humans and CO2
After calculating my carbon footprint, I have realized that there are many factors to carbon emissions. I also have come to learn that there are many ways we can help the environment out by reducing individual CO2 emissions. In terms of transportation, we humans can
1. ride bikes
2. take public transportation
3. carpool
4. drive high mpg/hybrid/electric cars
In our homes, we can
1. Turn off lights when not using them or before leaving the room
2. Replace incandescent lightbulbs with LED or fluorescent bulbs
3. Turn off heat/air conditioning before leaving home
4. Add solar panels to use heat's energy to power home's electricity
5. Take shorter showers
When eating food, we can
1. Eat locally sourced and organic foods
2. Cut beef and dairy, because it takes a lot of resources to raise cows
We can also reuse and recycle!! Try to use reusable water bottles, instead of plastic bottles. Reduce water usage by installing drip irrigation systems and make smart choices by purchasing water-efficient shower heads, toilets, dishwashers, etc. It may sound difficult, but it's us, t he next generation, that can take big steps in reducing CO2 usage and ending global warming.
