Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reusable Bottles and Bags

lowa21

There are small things everyone can do to help minimize their CO2 footprint. One of these actions is by switching from plastic water bottles and bags to reusable bottles and bags. TimeForChange.org reveals that "The carbon footprint of plastic (LDPE or PET, poyethylene) is about 6 kg CO2 per kg of plastic." That is a crazy amount of CO2 produced just by bags. However, if people switch to reusable bags they can help cut down the amount of CO2. Not only do reusable bags benefit the environment they also fit more groceries and items.
