Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Useless Materials?
Today consumers and consumerism is a big part not only in our country, but in the world. We keep supplying ourselves with things we think we need in order to balance our satisfaction. Giving into a system cycle of feeding into production of products that will soon be waste to us. In the end when we are done with an item, we'll either throw it out, let it sit around, or find no better purpose for it. The production of a lot of these items are also coming from unhealthy violating manufacturing systems, such as forced labor on others, and releasing of unhealthy amounts of greenhouse gases like carbon dioxide. What changes can we make in order to fix this? We can start buying from used stores, finding better uses in old items and renovating. Small changes can lead to big things and it starts now.
If you don't mind, I'd like to request that you provide some examples of useless materials. Though almost all of the time production materials are chosen based on price (or a balance of price and quality), could the extra money saved by using cheaper construction materials not be used to invest in other ways to improve the environment?
Yes, I agree that the extra money saved from using these alternatives could be invested in the development of creating better resources for our planet. By useless materials I mean the production of clothing that is in-style right now, as the new desire on the media. Materials that you could probably use within the first couple of months of purchase, and then toss to the side for an upgraded version of it.
