Superheros, Godzilla and The Legacies of Nuclear Power
What do these things have in common? Radiation. The way cultures view nuclear materials is very different depending on their history. The classic example being The United States and Japan. In the U.S. radiation is responsible for Spiderman, Doctor Manhattan, and Mr. Fantastic. Many Americans grow up with these heroes o their minds and think of radiation as a glowing green liquid that gives fish and birds 3 eyes. In Japan, where 2 atomic bombs were dropped, Radiation is attributed to Godzilla. Is this a simple correlation or a deliberate expression of nuclear attitudes. Let me know below.
