Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

This Is Our Own Doing

By us using cars, ships, factories, and other sorts of materials that produce CO2, we are putting our own Earth in danger of overheating and potentially wiping our entire species because nothing can survive without having Oxygen. The trees are the only thing that is saving this Earth by Taking in the CO2 and producing Oxygen but we are constantly destroying these forest and that us reducing the level of Oxygen and letting the CO2 level rise to a point where we can't do anything about it.

Agreed!

This is true because our released carbon is created by ourselves and if what we put into the environment is what we get out. Climate change is created by these boats, ships, trucks, cars, factories and slaughterhouses. These places release so much carbon that we won't be able to use these machines when the carbon comes back to us. I very much agree with this statement.  I especially like that you said that trees are the only thing saving us. In my opinion if we cut down the trees. We will not have any thing to save us from the carbon. Since deforestation has become such a problem we should be very worried about our future on planet earth.

Hello,
I'm from S.I.S in Vietnam. We have an average of 20453 kg because here in Vietnam, we use many motorcycles, cars and trucks. I do agree that we shouldn't utilize vehicles that generate by fuels too much. Instead, cycling is an appropriate solution. Plus, it is good for your health. And yes, trees are the only ones that are saving us. However, deforestation is a concern here, too. Many forests were cut down because buildings are going to be constructed. I do call help from others to save the trees but no one would listen from a 14-year-old kid.
