Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My carbon footprint

katjababic

After calculating my results, I was really surprised because I was above average. I thought it would be normal because I mostly walk to school and other places I go. I try to use less light and recycle. But that's obviously not enough. I think we should all try harder to make our everyday life habits better for the environment. We should try and fix things that can still be fixed.

I was surprised with my results as well, I was about 5,000kgs below average in my particular location, I thought I would be higher considering during the winter months we mostly only use wood to heat our house.

I was surprised that I had a lower carbon footprint. My family consumes a lot of meat, has very few LED lights, and heats/cools our house pretty consistently throughout the appropriate months.
