Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Reusable Bags

mathew_g21

Another good way to help the environment is to use reusable bags. If you use plastic bags they get thrown out and harms the life around us. If a plastic bag gets to any animal the animals may choke on the plastic bag and they can die. They also can get the plastic bag stuck around there neck which they can also die from. The good reason to use reusable bags is you don't have to waste 10 cents everytime you shop which is a big plus.

I agree with all these examples of why we need to use these reusable bags instead of plastic bags. NCSU references the benefits of reusable bags over plastic bags, saying that most stores offer financial incentives to bring your own bag, while if you don't have a bag, they charge an extra 50 cents or so.

I see what your saying about using reusable bags and I agree on what you said. I think that it was a great way to tell people how to help the environment and have benefits with that including saving money and not harming animals.

While I have never been to a store that charges extra for not bringing a reusable bag, I think there is still plenty of environmental reasons to bring one anyways.
