Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

mccarthyb21

My carbon footprint was kind of high due to many things. My home was low, at 1,140 kgs. My food was pretty average at 1,365 kgs. My purchases were very low at 485kgs. But my transportation was very high at 5,801 kgs. The only thing that really put me over was the transportation.

Great job keeping it so low!!

You should watch how much transportation you using. Instead of burning fossil fuels you should ride a bike or something to places that your close too so you can have less transportation.

Jemmert5

I have the same problem with my carbon footprint so I started to walk to and from school to reduce the amount of transportation

christophera1258

Hey! That carbon footprint is okay! Just like me, my transportation is over. I was thinking, maybe it would help if people started riding bikes more often to get places, what do you think?

delaneyedge

Your carbon footprint is really good compared to mine. I travel constantly for soccer and family stuff so my transportation rating is WAY higher than yours. Going forward I'm going to try to carpool and walk to nearby places so I can get my carbon footprint down and just do better for the environment.

Very good job just keep up the good work, and don't sit around a lot.

mitchh

You could start riding a bike or walking to places so you don't use cars as much due to the fact of the amount of carbon.

robertsm21

You can ride a bike instead of using cars to reduce the amount of carbon. Your carbon footprint is still really good though!

rachelj1010

A way to decrease your transportation is walking, public transportation, biking, hybrid/electric vehicles, and/or carpooling.
