Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Carbon Footprint

libbyjm

My total carbon footprint was 17,391 kgs, 1,473 kgs more than my region's average footprint. My transportation is what made my footprint so high, as my home, food, and purchases all remained below the average for NC. I think my transportation was so high because I go to school every day, hang out with friends often, and keep myself busy with after school activities. I think my home was lower because I am sure to turn off electronics/lights/etc. My food was low because I am sure to eat healthy often. My purchases were low most likely because I don't often buy myself new clothes. I don't grow much anymore, so I don't have to buy new clothes much, which I'm sure plays a factor in my carbon footprint. I think overall I can lower my carbon footprint especially when it comes to transportation. Does anyone have any recommendations?
