Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Hello from Croatia!

vida-sever

I think that my city (Varaždin, Croatia) has a great potential of becoming a more environment - friendly place. Although, the consciousnesses is on the average level, changes in the people's mindsets are always required. The first and the biggest step would be considering recycling as something essential in order to care about nature.

thescienceguru

that's a good idea, on my country there's specified trash cans for every material(plastic, glass, paper).

emilymartinez

my country is very wasteful and I think we can all come together and make a difference in our carbon footprint. Hello from America!

MrMikey

I agree that this is a step in the right direction recycling is a huge key in many lives.

allisonn

I agree with Emily it is wasteful and if we work together than we will make a difference in America

I definitely agree with you. Recycling would be a great choice to lower how much carbon we are emitting.

braytadorr

Recycling would be a great first step, what would the second and third step be?

makaylapuckhaber

I think that recycling would be a great choice.

josiemariepete

Recycling is a very good way to start, after you should try reducing use of energy, or less transportation(carpooling, less long trips).

calebbrawley

recycling is a very good idea to reduce your carbon footprint and its a good idea to even start there and get other people to do it with you

rbeatty

Being able to recycle will make a huge impact.

jessicaburge

It would be great to start recycling. Also, doing different things, like walking more, and using less energy would also help a lot. Keep up the good work.

autumn-p

Recycling is a great idea. It'll definitely help make your community a more environmental-friendly. Every community should recycle.

dquates

I also believe the biggest step is recycling it is effecting every part of the society, smart thinking!

Matthew153

SO pretty much what your saying is that it's an ok place to live, but there is a ton of room to improve in, that's pretty much every other place.

rsully10

Recycling is very big in todays world and not enough people do it I think. It is so simple to do. Every place has things they can improve on.

tagem

I agree the best way to better an environment is recycling because it helps to reduce the amount of pollution in the area.

libbyjm

That's great that your city is taking a step towards being more environmentally friendly area. I think recycling does a lot, because it helps reduce loads of things that cause a less friendly environment. I think in order to help reduce the carbon footprint here though, is to drive less, turn off electronics when not using them, eating locally grown food, and more.

wareagle

I think that would be a great idea. Like Japan is so clean because of recycling, America does it as well, but not as effective. Driving less is hard though, it gets you from a to b fast, but it could work as well.

glen24

I like the fact that you said a big step is recycling because of the fact that you said that your city has a great potential of becoming a more environment – friendly place. Recycling is one of the most important things that should be done. Recycling can decrease the amount of pollution.

Blakelym

Recycling is definitely a good way to start , it is a very popular technique people take part in .
