Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My solutions

My solutions to have less impact on my Carbone footprint?
I think my results are correct and I don’t have many solutions, I could:
- eat less meat.
- pay more attention to my consumption of electricity.

You can always find more solutions to reduce your Carbon footprint, like walking or sharing cars with friends to go to school/market/wherever you and your friends go. I think it is essential that all of us pay really close attention to our Carbon footprint, mainly because the environment is being affected, and it is in our hands to change that. I guess you can always be positive about it and find new and creative ways to reduce your Carbon footprint.

I Truly believe that these are minor changes that will not have much impact. I do not think that eating less meat is going to have an ideal change in the impact on the world. At this point, the world has reached a point where it need more serious changes to have a real impact on the world. Yet the second point is relevant, if everyone does compromise their consumption of electricity, it can help with environmental changes. IF WE ALL CONTRIBUTE WITH ELECTRICITY ! TRUST ME WE CAN MAKE A CHANGE IN THE WORLD. Stick together and contribute in any possible way. smile

It is imperative for humans to keep in mind the fact that the more meat we eat, the more consumption and slaughter of animals such as cows, pigs and chickens is encouraged and this can therefore limit and reduce the biodiversity of some ecosystems, encourage artificial and chemical hormone growth of animals and further disturb ecosystems to produce farms and agricultural land. We can live off nature without artificiality and killing of other animals. Plant and harvest people!

I believe that there are small individual changes that can contribute to reducing a persons carbon footprint. Walking to school, riding a bicycle, any little thing can make a contribution, as shocking as it seems. The environment is being greatly impacted by the serious changes being made in the world. It is up to us to make an impact. If the consumption of electricity was reduced by each individual at their homes, the carbon footprint would have a quick change, that could be effective in a good way. I believe we can all make a difference, whether it is individually or together.

If every human start changing, then everyone will contribute with something. one person can't change the world, but everyone together can. Yes we can!
