Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Next year I'm going to live alone and I wanted to know if someone could help me in some choices to make. In a couple months I must start looking for forniture,.. and I'd like to have everything the most sustainable (possibly keeping in mind that I'm a student and I can't spend too much). I would like to know some advice i.g. in which light bulb is the best one, or how to store food in the best way,..
Thank you in advice!

I always shop at second hand/thrift stores.  There's nothing more sustainable than making further use of something that someone else previously bought and no longer needs!  It's also much cheaper than buying new, you can find really good stuff, and in many thrift stores, the proceeds go to good causes.

(and yes many thrift stores sell furniture!)
