Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Food and Hunger

massibattaini

I think that the waste of food is one of the problems to be faced because the habits of many people lead to waste a good portion of food; in agreement with green.it in the European Union, 88 million tons of food are thrown away each year. The biggest problem for me is that, according to wwf, there are 795 million people in the world who suffer from hunger and I think it's absurd to waste so much food when there are so many people who need it.

I agree with you and in my opinion if everyone reduced the waste even just a few, the effect on a global scale would be impressive

I find it's sad that we can afford to throw food away while other people on our planet fight every day for a simple piece of bread. I often think that wealth should be a more subdivided good, but I immediately understand that it is a utopian concept!

I agree, sometimes we don't realize how much food we waste. It could be the packaged food at your home that you don't need and want to toss. Instead, you could try to donate that food to a near food shelter.
