Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Is Climate Change Real and Human-Caused?

massibattaini

I think that climate change is real and also human-caused because since the human begin to put CO2 in the atmosphere with our industry and our «consumer behavior» we registered more and more high temperatures compared to the lowes one and also more natural disaster and always more violent.
Many people thinks that climate change isn’t real because there are anyway cold season but if we watch the graphics of our temperature since we began to put CO2 in the atmosphere we could see that there is a considerable increase.

I think that climate change is real in the sense that the climate is changing. I do not think that the climate change is entirely human caused. There’s evidence that over time the temperature of the earth naturally changes.

massibattaini

I don't agree with you because if we look the natural changes in the temperature of the earth in the past at this time we should direct ourselves towards an ice age as it has always happened in the past until man have started to put CO2 in the atmosphere and now the temperatures instead are always going up like never before. Do you think is a coincidence?

It is true that climate change is not entirely man-made, as we have always seen climate change in the past. The only difference is that current climate change is happening at a frightening rate, much faster than in the past.

It is true because of all of the technological advancements we had in the past century or so. Additionally, the large increase in population have led to climate change by things like the release of carbon emissions.

In my opinion, the climate change we are having is caused only by man. As you said, climate change has always existed, as have major temperature fluctuations. But  a drastic increase like this has never happened before, and, given the countless technological advances and the substantial increase in man-made waste, it can only mean that we are the cause. In my opinion, there is still time to change things. What do you think?

yes climate change is real and its happening. The effects of climate change can be seen in many places all over the world, islands are sinking due to pollution (carbon dioxide, waste) in many factories. Climate change is caused because of human activity.

I think that climate change is real in the way that the climate is changing. Though I don't think climate change is entirely human-caused, but I'm sure humans have had the most negative impact on our atmosphere and have contributed the most to climate change. I also think that the earth is naturally getting hotter in a way. Overall, yes I think that humans have had a significant impact on the atmosphere through carbon emissions, though the earth may just be getting hotter naturally.
