Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

The ice melt in Antartica

melissachik1234

As water gets warmer it’s level gets higher as glaciers and ice caps in some parts of the world like Greenland and Antarctica melt they add water to the ocean and this causes sea levels to go up . Sea level will continue to rise at least the next few centuries because of global warming process already set in motion ,but it is difficult to predict how much more it rises  depending on factors. Examples of countries affected from the sea rise are often stated by the scientists . Pacific island nations are severely affected by climate change particularly because of sea level rise  also it  threatens Kiribati s arable land and underground freshwater supplies. So  this countries including Kiribati , the Maldives the Marshall Islands , Tokelau , and Tuvalu can be considered as the country’s most at risk

Hi. I agree with this and it's true. As ice glaciers and ice caps continue to melt the habitat for animals and other living things get endangered. In some parts of the ocean, certain animals cannot maintain their living standards because of the level that is not right for them. If this continues the ocean will rise and animals will be in grave danger. Global warning is changing by the minute. We can't control it but we can certainly do something about it.
