I think that advocates for addressing climate change need to make sure that climate policies don't disproportionately hurt poor and working people. Such people should be allies in climate change, not opposing forces!
It seems like it was a major mistake for Macron not to recognize this in the beginning, hopefully the France protests will be a big wake up call to all leaders who wish to take serious action to address climate change in their countries.
