Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Shorter Showers

Taking shorter showers can really help your carbon footprint because heating water takes a lot of energy. An average shower uses about 5 gallons of water per minute. If you shorten your shower by 2 minutes, you can cut your water use by 10 gallons.

I fully agree with this claim. Water is a very important resource and should not be wasted like this. By cutting down your shower time you can save a good amount of water. People don't realize how long they have beeen in the shower sometimes and waste water when they are not even washing their body.
