Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Eat Locally

Research has shown that eating locally can reduce your carbon footprint
7-13%. This is because the food that you buy from big supermarkets is transported to that store via delivery trucks. These trucks use a lot of gas, and the more you buy from these stores, the more delivery trips these trucks make. If you eat or get your food from local sellers, you could walk to get your food or if you need to drive, the trip is much shorter than a delivery truck.
Personally, I love interacting with food producers (although I am quite awkward) at farmers markets. You feel connected and the money goes back into the land and people rather than environmentally destructive corporations. Additionally, you just feel good - *you know your food is fresh, fragrant (is that the right word?) and comes from a place with little to no harmful pesticides.* For example, I bought two carrots for comparison, one at the supermarket and farmers market: the farmers market had curvatures and was an uneven shape; the supermarket was straight and looked crisp as apple. When I bit into the weird looking one, it just tasted _cleaner_ than it straight and crisp counterpart, it tasted better. In summery, your decisions, choice on food (good or bad) and where you buy it drastically impacts the community and you can make a change, one bite at a time.
Personally, I love this idea but, a lot of communities and neighbors don't have acess to eat locally. For example in New Orleans Louisiana theres more corner stores then anything.
