Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Going Meatless

carneyf22

Going meatless for just two days out of the week can reduce your carbon footprint, and it's simple to do.  Overall, According to BBC News, (https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-46459714)  26% of global greenhouse gas emissions come from food. More than half of food emissions come from animal products. And, half of all farmed animal emissions come from beef or lamb. This is because meat, primarily beef, takes much more land, water and GHG emissions than plants or plant based products. Beef takes almost three times the ha of land use than plants, almost four times more liters of water and four times the GHG emissions. So, by going meatless two days out of the week, you can reduce your personal carbon footprint and help climate change.
