Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Cars are Killing Us?

tkoga_tk

Most cars that we see both on the freeways and street often need fuel like gasoline in order to run. These cars release a lot of Nitrogen, CO2, and water vapor. These three main greenhouse gases create obstacles in our world. Many people often want to get the fastest car or the strongest car without looking at how many miles it gets or whether it is Eco friendly, but there are many cars which are in budget that are Eco friendly. With all the people who own cars and burn gas everyday, it may be a good idea to switch to electric or even hybrid for the sake of our planet. There is no need for a hundred twenty-thousand dollar Tesla, but we should at least think about our Earth before we buy the newest, fastest, most gas guzzling automobile on the market.

Hundred percent agree with your points about cars. People need to understand all the problem cars can cause our planet. People need to start switching to electric cars now so we can help out the Earth. More car companies need to educate us when we are buying a car about the number of admissions that they send up into the air.

I most definitely agree! Cars do cause a large amount of issues for our earth. However, the idea of "everyone getting electric cars" seems far-fetched and not a reliable solution.

Some people are simply too rooted on old ideas and simply saying "Buy Electric Cars!!" isn't going to change that. Putting out fliers, posters, and other types of informative forms of media is one solution, but even that won't make an electric car suddenly more cool than a Ferrari.

This change simply isn't very liable. For the time being, other forms of conservation would be more useful, at least until technology has advanced a bit more and electric cars become more mainstream.
