Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

The Power of the Sun

JByronBOD3

Solar Power is one of the easiest ways that we could all save some power. According to energysage.com, not only is it a way in which we could cut down on our carbon emissions, but it can also save you money. One way in which it can help it by eliminating the need for fossil fuels to go into your home and therefore eliminate a little bit of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. Even though there are still some carbon emissions, they are a lot lower than what they would be with fossil fuels fueling your home. According to Project-Sunroof, in Oakland, the average home would save $34,000 by going solar.  So you are not only helping out the environment, but it is also a smart choice for saving money. This all goes to show how solar power is a cost-effective way to help save the environment be reducing your carbon footprint.
