Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Ocean
There are huge areas of 'plastic soup' in the oceans.Animas are dying because of our garbage.
I agree with you. Plastic accumulates from our everyday trash and ends up in the ocean through surface runoff. Even then, a large amount of plastic ends up in the ocean. This destroys the ocean habitat and once the plastic breaks down, animals mistake it for food. An alarming amount of fish and birds are found with plastic filled stomachs. In order to dimish the amount of plastic in the ocean, we should just simply buy less. Since we all buy products in order to have a sustainable lifestyle, we should at least try and recycle the amount of plastic we do buy and even better, reuse it.
Plastic takes a 1000 years to disintegrate and even when and it never completely goes away because even if it looks like it has decomposed there are still little pieces of particles from the original product. Most of these particles end up in the ocean and then are consumed by sea animal, poisoning their blood. The best way to help is by not buying any plastic at all to help limit the amount that is on our Earth.
