Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Taking shorter showers

SARARUSABODMM

Although it may seem hard, taking shorter showers will lower your global footprint as well as save you money. It will lower your demand for fresh water, a scarce resource. Taking a long shower is linked to burning fossil fuels and the emission of CO2. Heating 1 gallon of water produces, on average, 0.18 pounds of CO2.

I think this is a very good way to reduce your carbon footprint. It is easy to do and save you money and helps the planet. One thing I do is a turn the water off when I use soap, this uses even less water than taking a shorter shower. What do you think if these Ideas?
