Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

A simple suggestion!

It's quite common for schools to promote "going green" and composting/recycling, but let's be honest: Not every student cares/does such a thing.

Perhaps, schools should actually give rewards, or maybe create challenges about being eco-friendly. Many schools put posters up, and maybe speak about it once or twice, but for what? Students need an incentive to do certain things, and as silly as it sounds, the earth they live in isn't enough to get them going.

Prizes such as extra points, and maybe small things like a free meal might move students to act.

Ways this could work would be getting stickers for certain actions, or even recording what activities are done to try and stop emitting so much CO2.

So, what do you think? Suggestions?
