Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

I'm not as good as I thought

IBratz

Originally I thought that me and my families habits were pretty good but now looking at it and doing the survey I have found that we are actually pretty bad. I am planning on curbing my bad habits

I know that your house is large and that you have a lot of lights and electronics. What if you made a rule to keep all lights off from 10 am to 4 pm. You could also use the computer less and waste less electricity to help.

I have a similar problem,I was expecting mine to be lower than I got. This was because in my life I try to save energy, not go through too much waist or shop too much, how ever it was much much higher the the avrage.  at the end of the day the only thing I can really do is cry to travel less, however this is going to be really difficult because I travel over 200 miles a week I'm definitely going to have to carpool with more people use more energy efficient car and try to cut in other areas

I agree with what nphere16 is saying. If you put rules in your house that deal with electronics and more of what you use on a break it will help a lot. Also since we live in a place that is known for it’s local farms, eating locally is a great way to lower you carbon foot print. Finally if you live in town, instead of driving everywhere you have the freedom and ability to walk around and go to many different places including restaurants and shops.

I completely agree, its so crazy how small things can cause such a difference in the atmosphere and things as easy as turning your lights of before you leave the room, even for a short amount of time takes up so much energy.

How do you plan to "curb your bad habits?"
