Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Home grown food

Where we live in Maine, is a great place for family’s to have home gardens because most houses have backyards, where they could possibly grow fruits and vegetables, home grown ir locally grown food is better for the environment because it doesn’t need to be shipped using trucks, planes, or boats.

I agree because there is plenty of fertile land where we live and would also force people to get outside and enjoy the day while they garden.

I think it would be good for more people to grow some of there own food so that way they will be helping to minimize the transportation of food items.

I agree as well, mainly because we have so many open farmers markets all year long. This makes it easier for some of us to get locally grown food. In sixth grade I did on product on how we can help our earth using locally grown food. I remember realize how much damage we do to our atmosphere by shipping food from country to country. One of the best things we can do is eat locally and organic.
