Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Different Diet
One way to reduce your carbon is through changing your diet. Food makes up about 17% of a households carbon footprint. Most of that is due to meat products. It takes about 27 kigos of carbon to create 1 kilo of beef. Going vegetarian will make a huge difference, but that is very difficult for most people. Doing something as eating a vegetarian meal once a week will have a large impact on your carbon footprint.
This is an amazing idea and an extremely practical diet because of its applicability to everyone. Not only is it more healthy but it will really make s strong impact because of the amount of water and food to feed the cow and the massive amount of carbon is produced. This will also help in other ways because rain forests are being cut down in order to make room for animals but if the animal market decreased then there would be more tree and overall less carbon.
The idea of having a vegetarian or vegan meal is a practical idea that many people can implement in their lives. Meals are very impactful to the carbon that ends up going into the atmosphere because of the transportation that it takes to get that meat onto a vehicle to get to the store and the gasses that are emitted directly from the livestock which are more impactful to the planet then the carbon dioxide itself. If we all just cut down our meat consumption just a little bit, it could help the planet a lot. Below is a link to a fantastic video that talks about the diet we eat and how it affects the planet.

This is a good point but it isn’t realistic for most people. Vegetarian meals reduce the carbon footprint in each household but most people cant choose what they have for meals. Some people have economic restraints or they don’t prepare meals.
