Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Making Cities More Green

KaliRTUSABODMM

It seems that the creation of cities are inevitable at this point. Yes, it makes me sad because I love nature and the countryside, but it seems now more than ever that soon the entire world will be covered in the concrete jungle. With the huge amount of cars and small amount of trees and animals, a world covered by cities seems like it would definitely destroy our environment with the vast amount of carbon in the air. But I think there may be a few ways that this inevitable change will not be so bad for our environment: like a place where plants and animals could live in harmony with the city, and also not in captivity. For example, in Singapore they have created a LITERAL "urban jungle" filled with plants and animals. Not only is it beautiful, but I think it would REALLY help reduce carbon emission.
