Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Public transportation

reedrules

I believe that if more people start taking public transportation we could dramatically decrease the amount of carbon we put into the air. If you use public transportation it will decrease the amount of times people use their car to go to work or go shopping or do normal everyday things. Although it may not be ideal for some people taking the bus or subway can help clean our earth by decreasing the amount of carbon in the environment.

I agree with this 100%, good response.

I agree. People should take public transportation whenever they can. If more people use public transportation the amount of carbon in the air would definitely go down. Especially places with a lot of traffic like big cities, taking public transportation is beneficial because cars burn a lot of gas waiting in slow moving traffic so the fewer cars there are on the freeway, the better.
