Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Environmental Impacts of Animal Agriculture

ramenkahn

Timeforchange.org states that over 2,600 kg of CO2 emissions is released from cows alone. This is the same as burning over 1,000 liters of petrol. People often overlook the HUGE impact that meat and animal agriculture have on the environment. If only cows have such a massive and brutal impact imagine the impact of all animal agriculture (pigs, sheep, chickens). I think that it is so important for us as a society to not only dampen animal agriculture to limit CO2 and methane emissions but because of the immense amount of water that animals require to be produced. I'm not saying that everyone HAS to go vegetarian or vegan NO MATTER WHAT, because I understand some people might have to, but those who can should!
