Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.
Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?
Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Shutting down big factories.
Big corporations have been emitting smog and terrible fumes into the atmosphere. This smog is terrible for the environment and our atmosphere is suffering at the expense of overpriced products from companies looking for a cash grab. I believe those factories should be stopped, or those corporations need to find other safer ways to produce their items without harming our ecosystem at the same time.
i completely agree because we are pretty advanced at this point that there are other ways we can make products without having to use so much smoke that will cause pollution. its just cheap for these people. using China as an example there country is filled with so much smoke that they cant even breath in parts there.
Whoa whoa whoa buddy, slow down. Shutting down big factories that produce products that we use in everyday life is not really much of a plan and quite honestly, it would cause more harm then good. When you mention the idea of corporations needing to find safer ways to produce their items with the ecosystem in perspective, I think it's a more realistic approach as well as a smarter one.
I agree that big factories need to work on ways to reduce their carbon emissions, especially in large industrial areas like in China and India, but shutting them down isn't necessary and will do more harm than good.
I agree that factories are a major contribution to greenhouse gas emissions. I definitely think that something has got to change with our factories. However, I think that there's also an option to apply clean energy to factories. The smog from factories is a result of burning fossil fuels, which is both dangerous and unsustainable. If we were to switch to clean energy, then we could continue producing what people need and/or want without endangering the earth.
If we shut down large factories, that could produce more harm than good. A full on economic collapse would only make climate change worse as that would be 2 major problems instead of just one. However, we need to impose more rules and regulations towards corporations using clean sources of energy so that we can keep our economy and the CO2 level in our atmosphere stable!
if we shut down big factories then how will we mass produce the items we need for everyday use, we could always find a different solution then completely shutting them down.
