Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

Save trees

tina111

Trees give us life directly and indirectly as they are source of oxygen production, CO2 consumption and source of rain. They are most precious gift to the humanity on the earth from nature for which we must be grateful, give honour and preserve for the mankind wellness.

We should understood importance of trees in our lives and do our best to save trees in order to save life, save environment on the earth and make earth a green earth. Trees are as valuable as gold that’s why they are called as “Green Gold” on the earth. They are the real source of our health as well as wealth because they give us oxygen, cool air, fruits, spices, vegetables, medicines, water, wood, furniture, shadow, fuel to burn, houses, fodder to animals and other useful things. They consume all the CO2, refresh air from toxic gases and prevent us from the air pollution.

I agree with you. Trees have such a big impact on our environment that we do not notice. Not only are we allowing more CO2 to be produced when we cut down trees, but we are also destroying animals living in these areas.

The trees are very important to the environment as they do many good this for the world. Trees produce more CO2 for humans and other animals to live in. When we cut down the trees for other resources we hurting the environment by taking away shelter but also not allowing as much CO2 to be produced.

A lot of people don’t realize or rather take nature and trees for granted. With the clearing of woods and forests so to make businesses or farms for livestock, not only is it wasting away resources at a quick rate but also it makes certain species endangered or extinct. If it keeps up like this, the CO2 that is spreading because of all of the cut down trees will increase and effect the air, water, and eventually us as a population.

Trees are so important, period. We keep taking them away for farm land or materials and sure plant two in place of the ones we cut down is great but does everyone do that? We should have tree farms or something. We can’t keep destroying precious habitats, just look at the amazon and what careless human decisions can cause. People need to care more and realize trees are more than a commodity to be cut down  and sold. It is vital to the earth and it’s creatures and its natural processes.

I agree with you trees are a vital part of our survival as humans they provide our oxygen i feel as if we should save trees and also plant more of them. We should also start by stop cutting down the amazon rain forest that accounts for more then half of our oxygen world wide it would be very tragic to see it go.

I agree, tree give us many things in our lives such as fruits. Some trees are the the shelter for some animal. People cut down trees to make items such as wood and paper. Some people waste paper and it's causing harm to the tree. I think people should care about trees because trees is part of the environmental and without trees where will we get food and fruits. Saving trees is like saving life. Cutting down trees is causing CO2.

yes absolutely trees need to be protected. they provide animals with sustenance and shelter and us with oxygen. there's that search engine ecosia that plants trees if you search stuff enough but idk how legit it is.

LeonardP(USA)

Since trees are important, why don't we always try to use recycled paper?
