Technology has changed our ways
Our world, our society, our earth has been completely overrun by technology. But is it all really essential for our lives? Or rather, is it something that deserves someone's full and undivided attention? Technology, while extremely useful in assisting people in everyday tasks are not a necessity, but rather a desire. Before the 21st century there was so much less technology and people got out more and lived their lives outside of their shell called "home". Many people are now too obsessed or too reliant upon technology now, and that can cause problems in more than one way.
One problem is the reduced amount of interaction with your environment; if you are just staring at a smartphone screen, you are not very aware of your surroundings and it results in less communication with others. Another problem is that technology is not 100% reliable every time--it can be very misleading at times. One example of this is if you are using "Siri" to navigate you to a desired destination and you are given the wrong directions or given directions too late you can be led in a whole new d irection, but if you had used google maps you probably wouldn't have been mislead (unless you can't read maps properly).
However, technology isn't only bad. It has it's positive sides as well. It can be used to conduct research or experiments or a way of long distance communication that wouldn't be possible without it. It's also a great source of entertainment, whether that be browsing social media, watching videos, or watching tv. But it shouldn't be developed too far, to a point where human interaction may become so limited that people may not even perceive emotions the way they used to. But this would probably take decades of development before something like this were to occur. it's still a scary thought though, and the way technology such as smart phones or the idea of cloning are constantly being modified or improved, a time may be reached when people won't really be people anymore.
The point is, people shouldn't rely on technology too much, and they shouldn't allow it to govern their lives and make them want to spend money on a new product that isn't something essential for life. And imagine the people who can't afford smartphones and are struggling to survive in this cruel world, they will be left behind in the dust and may not be able to receive the help that they need because so many people will be busy dealing with things that don't even matter like social media. Some people are just selfish so they want all of the new merchandise or they are continuously enhancing products to make the highest profit they can get, without even thinking about the consequences it may lead to.
Although technology isn't a necessity, it shouldn't be abandoned either; it just shouldn't be developing at the rate it is or it may lead to dire consequences. People should be able to distinguish their wants with their needs, but today, many kids claim that they NEED a smartphone or ipad, when they probably really don't. Technology has just affected society in such a huge way that in a way, and shouldn't be relied too much on.
