Is having the latest technology a want or a need? Of course it would be nice to have the latest technology, but you CAN live without it. It is not necessary to get the latest iPhone every 6 months when the new model comes out. But if you are one the many people that upgrades their phone often, what do you do with the old one? Most people set it in a drawer and forget about it. Why not recycle it? The link posted lists ways to recycle your old smartphones.

I agree! Many people I know are obsessed with obtaining the latest technology as soon as possible. My previous school used to ask us to bring old cell phones, Gameboys, etc. to recycle. In similarity to electronics, clothing is also a want rather than a necessity. You can wait a few weeks or even months before getting that top you wanted. Clothing is also a primary donation as many people own a lot they don't even end up using. Not only is donating clothing decreasing the carbon emission, but also helps those in need.
