Technology and Electricity

Fernandam

Modern technology is present throughout homes across the country. These devices can include computers, TVs, toasters, fans, and even light bulbs. It becomes easy to forget how much energy each of these products are consuming. Most of the energy produced in the U.S. comes from the burning of fossil fuels. This means that by using the electricity in our homes we are increasing our carbon footprint. As our use of technology rises we need to start to find ways to reduce our carbon emissions.
An action that we can take to help reduce our carbon footprint is to turn off or unplug all devices that are not in use. This helps conserve energy that would be wasted by having the device connected to the outlet. If the lights in your house are turned on in a room that no one is even using then you can easily turn them off to help save electricity. If it becomes too hard to unplug so many devices at a time, then you can use a power strip that has many outlets for many devices. H ere you only have to switch on switch off to conserve energy.
