Student Footprints

Students from around the world calculated their class mean and standard deviations for their footprints and posted them on our world map.

Do you see differences across the globe? If so, why do you think those differences exist?

Did you use the calculator to try to reduce your footprint down to the average from a citizen of another country? What changes would you have to make to lower your footprint in this way? Are you going to try and take some of these actions in your daily life?

My Footprint

timoteus

"Based on your input, your total footprint is 6413 kg of CO₂ per year, compared to an average of 7883 kg for Iceland, and 3791 kg (= 8358 lb) worldwide."
My footprint was actually lower than i expected.  The main reason for this I think are the fact that I live on a farm with my family and therefore we produce a lot of our own food. F.x. daires and meat. We recycle what can be recycled and we have a special trash can for organic leftovers which we recycle. I have a car which a have to use from time to time but when the weather is good and no icing on the streets I try walk or ride my bike rather than driving. This is never the less the highest CO2 outlet in my footprint. I don't really know how to decrease that part because I really need a car. My car burns average amount of fuel so it's not the best vehicle for the enviroment. I really hope to lower my footprint in the future.
