Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Electronics - Want or Need?
I have noticed that toddlers are more exposed to technology now than before. Parents rely on technology to keep their children quiet. What ever happened to going outside and playing a game? Lately, kids are being spoiled and are given unnecessary electronics. Kids in second grade already have iPhones. I think electronics are both a want and a need. Older people NEED these things to help them with their everyday lives. Kids want and do not necessary need electronics.
I agree with you. Electronics are being seen more frequently in younger age groups of kids. This leads to less time spent with parents and siblings. Irregular sleep schedules have been linked to too much screen time. Children are spending less time reading books affecting their vocabulary and language development. I do not think young kids need electronics as much are they are using them.

I also agree. Seeing younger children with ipads is always shocking for me. Parents are using ipads and iphones and other electronics to keep their children occupied instead of letting the kids go outside and socialize with other kids. When I was little I would go out and play with the other kids on the street until it was dark. nowadays it is rare that you see kids playing on the street because all they are doing is staring at a screen. Had i not gone outside and stayed inside during my childhood i honestly think i would not be the person i am today.
There are also health concerns with letting children just stay indoors looking at a screen all day. Going outside gives them fresh air and teaches them how to socialize with other children. Also with all of the technology around these days kids don't read books. This causes them to develop slower and may affect them in the future.
