Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

we should use bikes
we need to use more bikes instead of cars so we don't pollute the earth more than what it already is
I also think that it’s a good idea for people to start transitioning to using bikes rather than cars when traveling reasonable distances. I don’t see the average person biking across the country any time soon! Another good alternative to regular cars are cars that are powered by electricity. They cause less pollution, and thus, are better for the environment.
one impediment to using bikes is that many cities/towns don't have safe bicycling routes. improving bicycle lanes is a cheap way for any city to increase their sustainability.
As for biking long distances, no most people will not bike across the USA, but the buses and trains can be equipped with bicycle racks & storage so that you can take a long distance trip by public transit and then have a bicycle to get around once you arrive at your destination: a wonderful way to get to know a new place that you are visiting!
I think bikes would be a great idea to be more environmentally friendly, but in some cities riding a bike could be dangerous. Another thing to think about is whether you can afford a bike, because cheaper ones may not be safe and some people may not to be able to purchase a better model.
I think it's a very good idea. In my town, people hardly ever ride a bike.
I think that your idea is really cool. ![]()
I agree with the idea that using more bicycles rather than cars will help greatly reduce everyone's carbon footprint but as stated before it's not the best idea. There are cities like Amsterdam where bicycles have their own lanes, stoplights, and rules to follow but not all cities have the safety of others. The bicyclists are more dangerous than the actual cars on the road. Also not everyone has the capability of riding a bike or even want to based on how far they would like to go. It is a good idea and could be implemented in some places rather than others!
That's true because it would help with the environment and people would become more physically active.

The bicyclists are more dangerous than the actual cars on the road.
Do you have any link to support this? I don't know of any locations where bicycles are more dangerous than cars.
It is true that it is more dangerous in many places to *ride* a bicycle than it is to drive a car, but that is because bicyclists can be more vulnerable in accidents than people in cars, regardless of who was at fault in the accident.
