Wants or Needs?

Is having the latest technology a want or a need?

How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

Some Want, Some Need

Today's world is without a doubt driven by a technological craze. It seems like every year, technology advances and more of our every day lives are controlled by screens. The impact of processing these items on the environment is negligent to our planet. In order to create technology, materials are taken straight from the Earth for production, and an incredible amount of what is taken is wasted. In addition, it takes a lot of energy and water to manufacture things such as laptops and cell phones. But is all of this waste really worth it?
In a way, technology is very useful. It allows average citizens to get more information on the world around them and to contribute their own knowledge. As a matter of fact, we are using technology right now! In addition to this, I know my own school and many others require all students and teachers to have laptops, and I know other careers require workers to have laptops in order to get their job done. However, citizens do not keep their use of technology to the bare minimum. Lots of our technology is used for satisfaction and social asp ects. This is not only damaging to ourselves, as it restricts getting out and making real-life human connections, but the excess of energy use and the excess of manufacturing hurts our environment. The more and more we use technology, the more we have to charge, the more we have to purchase replacements, and the more energy we use. If we kept our technology down to what we truly need for work and school, I believe we would be helping our environment tremendously by cutting down energy use.
Do you think the amount of technology humanity manufactures is excessive? Or do you think all technology is put to good use?

Yes technology is a need, but we can fin for a solution if we care about, having a sustainable think which helps the society, the economy and the erviorment. We buy the things we realy want and then try to infuence others, you also can help doing a responsible use of it without speending time in excess.
