Is having the latest technology a want or a need?
How often do you get a new cel phone or mp3 player? Did you really need a new model? Do you consider the environmental impact of these purchases? If you are addicted, how can you break your addiction?

I personally think that having the latest technology is a want. For example, you've got iPhone6, but you don't need iPhone6s, it's just someone else have it, and then you want to have it, It's vanity, or maybe you want to keep up with the fashion, but you on't need the latest technology, it's not like water that when you are out of it, you will die, you won't die because you don't have the latest technology.
